Our Nutrition services are delivered by expert and specialist Anna Szmaj, Nutritional Therapist, Dietitian, Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Practitioner, and the Founder of GAPS Diet Clinic in Ireland. GAPS is a term that describes several health disorders and ailments originating from a malfunctioning digestive system.

Our Nutrition service consists of the Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet, and it includes:

  1. Initial Consultation – In which questions are asked about your current and past symptoms, medical history, diagnostic results, lifestyle, eating habits, physical activity, energy levels, sleep patterns, stress, and other aspects of your health history.

  2. Follow-Up Consultation & Protocol Creation – In which the causes of your health issues are explained and a strategy is laid out for you to achieve your goals, including tailored dietary advice, recipes, menu planning, lifestyle advice and tools to keep you motivated and focused, supplementation and/or lab testing may be included when necessary.

GAPS Diet supports learning disabilities, mental health disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism, ADHD/ADD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Addictions, Depression, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Epilepsy, Eating Disorders, Autoimmune Diseases, and many other conditions which affect the brain's functioning. There is a long list of conditions that the GAPS protocol can respond to as it is designed to address the root cause of each condition.

Many symptomatic conditions have no established diagnoses and present themselves as various symptoms, such as mood alterations, memory and cognitive difficulties, behavioural and social issues, panic attacks, anxiety, involuntary movements, tics, sensory issues, and others.

For this purpose, the GAPS Diet addresses the root of these symptoms and disorders by presenting a logical explanation from the condition's cause to its cure, step by step, starting with strengthening your digestive system.

Scope of the GAPS Diet:

  • Digestive Problems – Constipation, Diarrhoea, Flatulence, IBS, Reflux, IBS, Food allergies/Intolerances

  • Weight Issues- Weight gain/inability to lose weight, Sugar Cravings, Diabetes

  • Cardio-Vascular Health – Raised Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Metabolic Syndrome

  • Hormonal Imbalances – Fertility support, PMS, PCOS, Endometriosis, Recurring Thrush, Cystitis, Migraines

  • Skin Issues – Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea

  • Mental Health – Low mood, Anxiety, Depression, Fatigue, Poor Concentration

How does the GAPS Diet work?

  • Heals and seals the

  • gut lining to restore digestive functioning

  • Rebuilds the bacterial flora

  • Eliminates nutritional deficiencies

  • Restores the immune system

  • Eliminates inflammation

  • Helps the body remove toxins

The GAPS Diet offers more results than diets such as gluten-free, casein-free, or Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). The GAPS Diet presents a logical explanation from the cause of the condition to its cure, step by step, starting with strengthening the digestive system.
